Loan-O-Loan Fabio Borini

Academy to loan to permanent transfer then repeat the last two steps.

This has been the career so far for Italian footballer – Fabio Borini. Currently playing with Hellas Veronas, Borini has sweet relation with loan spells and short life spell at any club, be it giants like Liverpool, AC Milan or the smaller ones like Sunderland, Swansea (just pointing out on their position in respective country leagues).

Starting from the Chelsea academy, life at Chelsea academy is never easy for any young player, Borini’s playing position generally centred around central midfield and forward. Loan spells and exceptional talent is the only key to get into the Chelsea starting 11. Then managed by Carlo Ancelloti, Borini made 4 appearance for Chelsea to then go on a loan spell to Swansea City where he went on a rampage to score 6 goals and provided 4 assists in just 12 matches. Running down his Chelsea contract, Borini secured the Premier League spot for Swansea as they went on to win the Championship Playoff Finals.

Haven’t even joined Parma completely, Chelsea filled a law suit over the pre-contract that had been agreed between Fabio Borini and Parma behind the doors. Borini was instantly loaned out AS Roma, another Serie A club with not even a single minute played. Strange club relations followed Borini as, Roma and Parma signed a co-ownership of Borini as the season progressed. Scoring 10 goals for Roma over 26 matches, contract situation became more tensed.

Borini’s one and only international appearance came as result of his good performance at Roma, against USA in a friendly match. He was also selected for the 2012 Euros but didn’t make any appearance in the competition.

Meanwhile in Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers took over as manager made Borini his first transfer signing for 12-13 season. Injuries accompanied him, as the pace of Premier League took toll over Borini. First season didn’t go that well, a sweet loan spell came trotting for Borini from Sunderland, who were struggling themselves.

7 goals for Sunderland, mean safety for relegation-zoned team to move out to safety with just couple more games to play. Awarded as Sunderland’s Young player of the year, opportunities were not enough back home at Liverpool. Joining Sunderland, now on permanent for 10 Mil Pounds – relegation struggle became constant for the team. Sunderland finally got relegated in 16-17.

Sweet loan move again came to Borini, from new ownership AC Milan – the contract having an obligation to buy. 17-18 loan season went well for Borini as he was a constant face in the Milan starting eleven. But as the transfer was made permanent – the Borini effect (as seen previously) followed. Fewer game time the next season and with a turbulent management shift in current season, Fabio Borini was bought by Hellas Verona in a free transfer, very rare in midst of any season.

While Borini has so far shined better at Verona, all we wish is that this time his contract doesn’t end sooner as seen in previous cases. Marked with sweet loan moves and turbulent permanent moves, this was Fabio Borini the loan-master.

Cheers
